The MCCA receive a lot of club permit enquiries so here are some facts & previously answered questions that we have put together on how the MCCA operate the club permit registry.
Zoran is the club scrutineer & sign's off on all club permit paper work. But before he can do so he needs to inspect your vehicle to check for safety & roadworthiness unless you have a current roadworthy certificate. Each inspection costs $50 so he would generally ask you go over your car with a mate or someone that is handy with cars & check that all lights work, there are no oil leaks, tyres are roadworthy, all suspension, steering & bushes are working correctly & not worn, there is no rust in the vehicle, seats are firm, no rips & do not have play, seat belts are not worn or frayed & retract if they have retractors, washers, wipers & demisters work (inc rear if your car has them) no exhaust leaks & noise levels under 96db, all glass must not be cracked or be sandblasted & so on, so what Zoran looks for is a safe car for yourself & everyone else on the road with you. Also he requires a full list of modifications minor or major, meaning anything outside of factory spec’s that has been done to the vehicle prior to the inspection.
Before we can inspect your car the MCCA has strict rules that state all members that would like to apply for club permit must attend a minimum of 6 club events & be a member for a minimum of 3 months. This is done to protect our club & our members & is a condition we are very strict on, We will consider special circumstances if you have any like work commitments, living far from Melbourne & anything else which may hold you back. In saying that there is no reason why you cant still meet all the criteria by organising events during times that you are not working or around your area, for example if you live near Phillip Island you can organise meets at the track on event days, or if you know of a great little café near your place please feel free to book us all in there on a day that suits you & we shall come, and to show that we appreciate your efforts for every event you organise we will note it as 2 events which means if you organise 3 events we will consider it as you attending 6 events & after you have done this we can fast track the permit process for you…… As you can see its as easy as you make it on yourself.
Club events are on at a minimum of twice a month & we also encourage our members to organise events at a maximum of once a week. If there are no events listed during the week your looking at on the website feel free to take advantage. Please also book the date at least one month prior to the event day, & if you have an event that is less then one month away please consult us prior to booking the event.
Once you have received club permit on your vehicle you need to attend club events as well as organise a minimum of 1 event per year, this is all tallied up in a points system & you must achieve your points for the year in order for us to resign your paperwork for the following year.
The points system is a very simple one & works like this
You will receive
10 points for coming to an event without your permit car
15 points for coming to an event with your permit car
10 points for coming to a tech day
15 points for coming to a tech day & helping out
20 points for organising an event
20 points for special events (noted on publication)
If you regularly track your car please let us know as track time can be claimed as events also .
You need to earn 100 points per permit year in order for you to receive your signature for the following years paperwork.
A vehicle inspection is mandatory every year prior to signing your paperwork again at a cost of $50 per inspection, also any modifications that are done to the vehicle while on permit MUST be listed & given to me or the MCCA & if we feel the modifications need to be checked we will ask you to present your car so we can inspect the modifications for safety. Failing to notify or present your vehicle WILL result in the MCCA revoking your permit after three attempts OR one month, If this is to happen you will also be banned from the club & the Vic roads registry & CAMS will be notified of this.
Also we ask that you please familiarise yourself with the Vic roads rules & regulations regarding club permit as these are very important & not doing so can lead you into trouble. Some people may see these as strict rules BUT the MCCA must protect itself as best it can from any wrong doing by people within the club as well as invited guests.
For further information or if you have special circumstances please feel free to email any questions to us & we will be more then willing to answer your questions or taylor a plan for you. contact us.
