Hi everyone,

The committee decided that it would be of benefit to the club if we had a club car that could be used & available to all members on club events & track days, reason being that most club members are quite reluctant to drive their own cars on dirt/gravel travel tracks found in motorkhana & khanacross events. One of our club members has kindly offered to donate a 323 shell to the club. However, due to the the amount of time its going to take to get the 323 on the road, we thought that it would be best to purchase a cheap early model rear wheel drive Mazda that is closer to road going to save on time.

So, here are some pics of the new MCCA club car. As the topic says, it is a 1982 626 coupe.

Purchased off ebay for $355. Bargain! So far the plan is to get a RWC & get the car on historic car permit. The series 1 626's were build on the same chassis as the gen 1 rx7's, infact the 626 was used as a test car base for the rx7 before they came out. Most mechanical parts are interchangable so it should make for an interesting car.

So far, the list of things to be completed for RWC are:

* Rear passenger side, front window rubber
* 4 Roadworthy tyres
* In rail window regulator rubbers for both doors
* Front bumper
* Front grille
* Windscreen
* Possibly rocker cover gasket & half moons
* Seat covers front & rear
* Rear tail lights
* Indicator stalk cancel inoperable
* Air pump belt
* Seat rail
* Petrol cap release needs adjusting

So the plan is to hold club technical nights, that will be open to all club members, in which some of the items on the to do list can be completed. These technical nights will also be perfect for knowledge sharing amongst club members (ie. spray painting) & is where we will have the opportunities to make improvements to the car for upcoming club events.

We are also planning on running a club competition soon regarding paint design for our new club car, so keep watching this space for more information in the coming weeks

yup its getting there, for the roady she only needs inner & outer tie rod ends on both sides & tyres & she is done, by then it will be painted & our club car will be on the road...
